SARAH ELIZABETH GATES HARRIS, Ph.D.
Dr. Harris is an experienced educator, trainer and administrator. She has had a long and distinguished career in public service, public administration and higher education. She is a certified seminar leader and independent consultant.
She served as a Montgomery County Commissioner in Dayton and Montgomery County Ohio in the early 90s and prior to that she was a Montgomery County Treasurer.
She has been a teacher and principal, served as President of the Dayton Urban League and a Manager at the General Electric Co. She has worked with the Dayton Foundation, Dayton Power and Light Co, Directed the National Conference for Community Justice, and served as Facilitator and honorary co-chair of the Dayton Dialogue on Race Relations.
Her past board assignments include YSI. Inc, Wright State University and the University of Dayton.
She holds a B.S. Degree in Education, a Masters in Supervision and Curriculum and a Ph. D. degree in Education Administration from Miami University in Oxford Ohio. She holds an honorary doctorate of Humane letters degree from Wilberforce University in Oxford Ohio.
She and her late husband Kenneth moved to Las Vegas in 2001 where she now resides with her daughter Kim Harris. She enjoys reading and traveling and is a proud member of the Las Vegas Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
